Politics is mostly about tribalism and power and money, not much about
principles or the general welfare. Or morality. The Dems are a bit
worse than the Repubs in that respect.

The right hasn't been "playing fair" since the days of the Montgomery
Freedom Riders attacks, and the lynching of Emmett Till.

Sounds like the Dems are finally learning a few things from their
opponents and wising up to what gets the average American voter
motivated, and it's not preaching tolerance and moderation.

It only took them 50 years but they're not the fastest learners..

Nor the Democrats either. With Putin around, no Democrat is going to
describe Trump as the greatest threat to democracy ever. Trump's lying
claim that the 2020 presidential election was stolen is a pretty
explicit threat to democracy, but while he did get a couple of people
killed by pushing this idea, it was a pretty ineffectual gesture.

Putin's intervention (via Facebook) in the 2016 election may have
produced Trump's very narrow winning margin, which would have been a
more effective intervention in the democratic process.

Cursitor Doom does share Trump's habit of inventing stories to demonise
those he regards as his political opponents.

Neither Cursitor Doom nor Trump feels any need to make those stories
remotely plausible.

Democrats aren't "fine" about murdering a political opponent. 17% of
them may think that America would be better off of Trump had died, which
merely means that they haven't heard of the Pim Fortyn effect, where the
assassination in the Netherlands of a pretty inept politician got a
bunch of his even more inept colleague elected (with unfortunate effect,
though they screwed up badly enough to force a new election within a year).

It doesn't mean that they approve of assassination as a political action.

That's merely a far-right-wing accusation, based a very strange point of
view, which does excuse Trump's attempts to set aside the results of the
2020 presidential election as if it were a legitimate attempt to
exercise the power of the presidency.

Cursitor Doom does post his political fantasies as if they were facts,
but in this case he's going even further than usual.
