I wonder how she knew that the correct recipe was DCDDB
Women used to work very hard to keep their husband and kids alive.
Fetching wood and water, cooking, cleaning. Carrying babies around
without an SUV.

Laundry used to be an enormous chore; my grammy had a wringer tub and
a clothesline, and kept and killed her own chickens, and cooked them
on a wood-fired stove. And there was sewing and knitting and dealing
with diapers and such. Now if a sock or a t-shirt is torn, we throw it
away.

No birth control. Lots of kids, many that died young.

Technology has helped women enormously. Men too.

That's true, but we seem to be trying to move towards a time when no-one will need to do anything at all.
Men or Women.
Just get technology to do it all.

This one about women drivers is my particular favourite. Sad to think it
would never be made today.

That's cool. I don't know of any wives who behaved that way when I was
a kid. Many stayed home doing chores (of which there were a lot more
in those days) but I can't recall one who accepted her guy as an
always-right master. Usually, the opposite.

But roles were much more rigid in past times. Things are much better
now.

It must be great for a guy in college now, being outnumbered by girls.

I find that their search engine can be useful.
Google has been moving towards giving you only the results they want you to have for a long time.
Maybe Yandex has too.
With the two of them, and sometimes other search engines, you can sometimes get a more balanced picture.
Or not if you're influenced by nonsense.

I would certainly agree that Yandex has a great search engine. Google? No
thanks. Another good one is Search Mixer: searchmixer.com - but things can
change and you must never accept *any* source as permanently trustworthy.

Yes, the same with google maps,
sometimes I switch to using bing.maps as google maps is useless
then I wish I still had paper maps...

It is always good to get info from different places, rt.com versus cnn versus others
like AlJazeera etc, German news, Dutch news, France news, UK news.. and opinions.

As to behavior of wives... nature has many different examples
from women spiders eating their men to women fishes raising their eggs
till they die.
Nature channels on teefee, some human cultures copy that it seems
Evolution, Darwin, as long as it works the species continuous and evolves.

Group behavior,, hyenas, wolves, loners like some Lions...
Cultures change over time... married women, married men these days
World pictures change, dictated often by people using religions to control other people
earth at center of the world (Pope in medieval times),
Stephen Hawking meeting the pope talking about the big bang,
pope replying "that would be good, god created it all out of love",
https://aleteia.org/2016/12/03/when-religion-pope-francis-met-science-stephen-hawking
Me, I am not so sure about the big bang anymore now, considering the nature of EM radiation and how we measure things and interpret those
So all changes
Like climate:-)
Maybe it is cyclic, maybe the humming species goes dino's way

There are many cultures on this earth that each treat women very differently, compare Afghanistan to Iran to America..

The question for Mr Doom is: Did he fix his boat anchor?
His other babble is diversion :-)

Yes, I did fix it, Jan. It wasn't in the sampler section after all but
rather the phase detector part. It was one half of a double BJT that had
lost its B-E junction. After that was replaced, the dreaded "YTO Unlock"
Error message disappeared. The analyzer still has an issue to be solved,
though: there's a problem with the attenuator (but I'm dealing with
it....)

Chenery Street. It ends at Glen Canyon, which has one of the two
remaining creeks in San Francisco. Sadly, all the rest have been paved
over. With bad paving, as you noted. Islais Creek is barely a trickle
now, but when the rainy season kicks in it will be fun. There's
actually a dam, The Glen Canyon Dam, and some impostor of the same
name somewhere back east.

And there was a dynamite factory.
